Text Detectives 1.0

Text Detectives is designed to support the teaching of non-fiction reading, with particular reference to the Literacy Objectives for Year 4. The software can be used either by an individual child, or by small groups, but headphones are essential in either case! The program consists of seven structured activities dealing with texts in different ways. They can be accessed either through an adventure – linking challenges – or individually. Each activity can be differentiated at three different levels. This is a well thought-through piece of software, which presents the courseware in a clear and well-structured way. The activities are interesting and relevant and the adventure setting is designed to motivate the children. The texts contained in the program can also be printed for further use in the classroom.
